Daring Kids to be Different?

Great message!

But is anyone actually daring their kids to be different or encouraging individual expressions? Or are we drowning in a sea of princesses in real life?

Edit: I realize this inadvertently bashed princesses. Completely unintended. Princesses are welcomed too!

I think we are, or at least more than in the recent past, and that it's a positive change.

When I was a teenager conformity was cool. Everyone had to have the exact same outfit from Abercrombie or they were lame weirdos (I was one of the lame weirdos).

Today fashion seems to be more about highlighting individuality, and gender clothing norms are much less regid. Especially for young children.

No one is daring their kid to be different. Parents want you to be like person A and have all the benefits that person B doesn't have. They tell kids to be themself but act a certain way, get good grades, go to college, have a certain personality, yadda yadda yadda. The kid has to be that one who says screw that and be themselves.

Let em be what they wanna be. Unless it's causing harm to them. All over my Facebook time line was little boys as well as dad's dressing in "girl costumes". That little boy wanna be a princess? Let him! That little girl wanna be a cowBOY or dragon or Batman? Let her! No big deal!

IMO it's not about daring your kid to be different, but fully supporting your kid to be different if that's what they want to do, and who THEY are. It's about them, not you.

I dont think theres a problem with a little girl dressing up as a princess even if all her friends are too. Stop daring your kids to be different and encourage them to be themselves

Why dare a kid to be anything?
More and more parents nowadays are forcing their kids to be snowflakes and its what the rents want. 
Let the kids be themselves, yea?

I'll dare my kids to be themselves, but encourage them to not view being different as a bad thing, either with themselves or others. Then if they want to be different, then I'll absolutely encourage it.

We allow our kids to dress the way they want to the extent of weather permittable and school appropriate. I doubt we will ever have an issue with our girls dressing provocatively.

I will support whatever my child wants to wear for halloween 😂 being a princess is fun and there's nothing wrong with it, just like being a supeehero or ninja turtle or anything like that.
