hurt please advice

I had been talking to this guy and he kept asking to meet up but I was so hesitant (cause of past reasons) and I decided to ring him, we had a really fun chat then he brought it up and kept asking why. He got angry and hung up then messaged me basically saying this time last year he was fucked up and chasing me is making him go back to that. I hated that I was making him feel like shit so I said 'just cut me out of your life' but without giving my a chance to explain after he implied I was a heartless bitch he blocked me on everything. I feel so hurt. No hateful comments please I was just doing what felt best😔
