Dilating? Comments plz

Will you know if your dilating or no???

I'm 38 weeks today..had an appt last week at 37 weeks and still wasn't dilated. And at 35 I still wasn't dilated. Tomorrow I have an appointment, and I really FEEL like I'm not gonna be dilated, I'm already ready to hear the doctor say "no still not dilated" & me get very disappointed and sad... But, can u feel if your dilating or not and when I mean feel I don't mean you stick your own fingers in there. I mean like do you just get a feeling your dilated??? Comments plz
