Please tell me about the spinal block

Ok ladies, for those who have had the spinal block before c section, what does it feel like? I want brutal honesty. I really can't remember what it felt like and I also had the epidural bc I was trying to have my daughter vaginally but failed. So I think that I was still kind of numb when they tried the spinal. They even failed doing that so I was put to sleep. This time I most likely won't be sleeping bc it's a schduled c section. But if anyone had one recently or if they remember clearly, can you tell me how bad it is? Or if it was bad at all? I've had quite a few needles stuck in me this pregnancy from the flu shot, the rhogam shot, the tdap shot and all the blood draws and a few ivs so I'm no stranger to needles. But something about one going into my back is scaring me. I'm overweight as well and I'm scared they won't be able to get it the first try and have to keep poking me. Thanks ladies!
