Feeling crappy
Yesterday morning I had a regular biweekly check up. I had started swelling by mid day Saturday, ( my feet, face, and my hands) so I was extremely worried. The nurse took my BP and it was normal! But I had my doubts still. The doctor came in and I told her about my swelling and other symptoms and she took a look at my legs, "ankles", and feet. She immediately took my blood pressure again and said she definitely got something higher than what her nurse did. She took it again a few minutes later and got the same result. 170 over 110. I was in shock, I was shaking like a heroin addict in withdraw. She ordered a urine sample to check for protein. Unfortunately I wasn't able to give one because I had been urinating less often for some reason. She had me sit in the waiting room and chug a lot of water until I felt like I could go. After about 20 minutes I was able to give them enough to test. The nurse came and got me back out of the waiting room in a minute or less and took me into a room in the back. I already knew what was gonna come out of her mouth. She said there's no doubt I have protein in my urine. It was the darkest color level possible. After that, they wanted blood work, so I went to the lab, I had just gotten registered when the doctor came to see me in the waiting room and said she had talked to the doctor up in L&D and she said she wanted me to just skip waiting to get my blood draw at the lab and go directly up to L&D to be admitted. This whole time I was still shaking uncontrollably. I spent the night in the hospital, got around 4 hours of sleep... Still in shock and upset I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia. My baby looks healthy as can be but in s wat I feel like I failed. My mind has been full of questions and concerns.
Thanks for reading. Sitting in my hospital bed, needed something to do so I thought I'd share.
