Late Post: Our Birth Story

So, initially I was due on October 31st but I ended up being induced on November 2nd. I went into the hospital at 6cm and 90% effaced but my water still hadn't broken yet and my contractions were spacey and irregular. Because I was GBS positive, they started me on penicillin and wanted to wait 4 hours to see if my contractions would pick up on their own. After the 4 hours, I got another dose of penicillin and my contractions had become regular but I hadn't dilated any more. My dr had a couple dr appts to facilitate so she said let's wait a couple more hours until she was done and then she would come and break my water. Unfortunately, when she did get to the hospital 2 ladies were ready to push so I had to wait until they both had their babies. Fortunately, the pain was manageable and I was just waiting to hold my beautiful baby. (We didn't know the sex yet) When she did finally come in, (11 hours from the time I entered the hospital), I was 8 cm dilated so she broke my water and instantly the contractions spiked to 100% foluul force with no breaks. So, I tapped out and got the epidural thinking, it took me 11 hours to dilate 2 cm... there's no way I'm going another who knows how many hours to get from 8 to 10. Well, within 45 min I had extreme pressure in my butt. I even asked my husband to look and see if the baby was coming out. I called he nurse in and she said I was almost 10 fully effaced and I could start pushing if I wanted to. With my first, I pushed for 3 hours before she came out so I decided to wait until I was fully 10 cm. 15 min later the pressure was too much and I called her back in and she had me do a practice push and immediately called out for the dr and the other nurses... this baby was coming! The dr got there in seconds and 3 pushes later our beautiful baby girl was born. Lucina Sofia at 8lbs 6oz and 20.5 in long. She was and still is perfect.
