miscarriage?17w 1day

First I had red spotting, now I'm having this. It all started this evening. Didn't take a pic of the first brown discharge stuff (wasnt able to) But it was very dark, thick, mucous like and covered all of the toilet paper. No cramps. until tonite. they're mild to moderate. And cover my whole pelvic area, like AF cramps. Ive had ectopic pregnancys before. But never a miscarriage. So with red spotting followed by this I'm nervous. (No recent sex, or anything that would bother my cervix) any opinions would be great, especially if you can relate to this situation. Thanks everyone.
