Late period and negative test

I'm going on 6 weeks without a period and they're normally spot on every 4 weeks. I'm not sure what to do since both pregnancy test showed up negative. I don't want to over react but I had a miscarriage last year and I don't want to risk another. Should I call the dr yet or wait it out another week or so??
