IUD & Flow

I've had my paraguard iud for about six years and it caused me to have a really heavy period, changing my tampon every hour for two days, since I got it. Also, my period lasts two weeks and my cramps are for two days and they're so painful my lower body goes numb and I vomit... Does anyone else have these issues with an iud? What has your obgyn said? Thanks.
