Will Insticts Really Kick In?

Question

Maybe it's just nervousness and anxiety talking, but I'm going to be a new mom in December, and I am having a hard time thinking that these insticts will kick in after I have my baby and I will fall head over heels in love. I just can't fathom it. I'm scared I won't get those insticts or I won't fall in love with my baby. I don't want to fail as a mother! It what I'm feeling normal? Does it all really just fall into place?

It's not always love at first sight for everyone but it does happen within days for those who it isn't an immediate thing. I had these same worries with my first, I never liked kids but always knew I wanted to have kids of my own. I feel for me it was a bit weird because I wasn't able to wrap my head around the fact that my body was growing a baby and I ended up with an EMCS and then handed a baby (they're also not the cutest little people as soon as they're born) that looked like Rocky Balboa after a fight. However, my instincts kicked in right away...she was born at 22:20 and even though I wasn't able to move until 10am the next morning and I was so knackered, I didn't have proper sleep and everytime she did a little chirp I immediately pressed to get a midwife in to hand her to me, breastfed her multiple times during the night. The next morning as soon as I was able to walk, I gave her a little wipe down, was checking her nappy often, gave her lots of cuddles...2 days later, by the time I went home I was smitten, so in love and felt like I had been a mum forever. So my point is, don't worry and don't be disheartened if you feel like you didn't falle in love with your baby straight away...it's quite normal as it is all new and people need time to adjust. Also, if you do struggle don't be afraid to ask for help, it is very important that you do and that if people offer their help you know that it's not because they don't think you're capable but rather it's them wanting to be helpful and feel useful.

Trust me they will! I felt the same way with my first, like I couldn't believe I would be the one taking care of a baby! Me! I'm the mom! Haha, but you'll be the one that wakes up every time the baby moves/makes a noise, you'll learn their cries, and trust me...your baby will ALWAYS want and love you! They literally couldn't live without you,  and after the baby is here you'll realize it's the same the other way around!

You're not alone, I worry I won't have that motherly instinct kick in. I'm not a kid person, I'm a dog person 😂 I make a great aunt, but a mother? We tried for years for this baby so she's definitely wanted so badly, but holy crap, I'm only a few weeks from being a mom. I'm ready to get over the anxiety of these worries and really dive into motherhood and start this new adventure

Honestly it's a scary and nervous and every emotion into one when someone becomes a mommy. Instincts do kick in. They can wiggle & your up during the night pacing. You have no idea how much love you will feel. It's insane. You love someone so much & they depend on you and only want you!!& it's amazing!!!! I am a mommy twice now & this time around it feels the same way except I am more worried again because it feels like all the same fears will come back. I'm worried about labor & delivery! How well it will go, etc. I am so exited & feel so many emotions. I can't wait. It's gonna be an adjustment with two babies now but I will manage!
