Buying a house??!!

Hey everyone!! Ok so our little cub will be here in late May and me and my boyfriend have to look into changing our living situation and quick! I'm from NYC so I'm used to apartment and rent life but I've recently looked up buying vs. renting and in the long term buying is better. I have good credit and my bf has excellent credit do any of you have any tips? Thanks ❤️

Where I live, it's definitely better to buy because rent is so high compared to a mortgage, but where my friend lives she said by the time you pay fees maintenance etc it's better to rent unless you're gonna be in your home 10 years or more. But check into legalities of buying a house with someone you're not married to, I think in the event of a split up it's more complicated if you're not married.  My friend put her name only and her bf paid her rent until they got married then she added him.
