No side effects on clomid- normal?

My dr put me on clomid cycle day 5-9. I'm currently cycle day 12. Now I'm not complaining in the least that i haven't noticed a single change or effect, but after reading endless stories of the side effects, how it made others feel from cramps to hot flashes it is making me wonder if it's something that isn't going to work for me. Unfortunately my Dr didnt explain to me what clomid is or why he prescribed it. I see him again in 5 days.

We have been ttc a full year since my daughter was still born 13 months ago. I have regular cycles, pretty uneventful except since i lost my daughter I've had overly heavy flows. Every month an ovulation test strip always showed positive cd 13&14... it's frustrating how our bodies are such mysteries.
