Tampons... The switch?!

Question

Hi all, soooo I am 15 years old and I've been using pads ever since I got my period. But I've been so annoyed I couldn't participate in my beloved sport for the first few days of my period. I've considered tampons now and then but I just don't know how to, or what I'm suppose to feel with using one... Especially because I am still a virgin. Help??

If you go online and join the U by Kotex or Libra "clubs" or whatever they are, they offer to send you free samples. Libra girl is a really good one with lots of different things to try to work out what's good for you. Most of the other pad and tarpon companies offer free trials also but I would definitely recommend the Libra one!

If you use the right size and put it in right you'll be fine. The only time I've ever felt a tampon in me was when I was in a rush and put it in wrong. I find the easiest way is to be in a squatting position, goes in right everytime :)

Being a virgin doesn't exactly determine how 'tight' you are so just try a small/ mini tampon (depends what you call them where you are) and if it is too loose fitting then go a size up. That's what I did.

You could google it and it'll give you drawn demonstrations. Tampons also come with directions, I believe. I know how you feel because I started using tampons from a very young age. It's awkward and uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it and start knowing what you're doing. Never get the ones that have cardboard applicators. They hurt and harbor bacteria. I like the brand called U because they're pretty discreet with how small they are and they come in minis. 
But basically how you apply it is you squat (easiest for me), sit on the toilet (this one is kind of awkward), or put a leg up on the bath tub (was easiest when I first started), feel for the hole, slide the applicator inside, and push the plunger. I had to waste a few before I got it inside. I had to take it out, though because it hurt and was uncomfortable. Don't stress if it does. It's normal, especially if it's dry down there. It may get a little messy, as well, but you just wash your hands off, and clean whatever you have to. Go slow with it and don't rush. :)

My advice is to not let it effect you, because you're a virgin! I personally have preferred tampons my whole life since I've had my period. It honestly has made things so much easier (not having to change as often, no icky bloody feeling, can be more active, etc...). If you're willing to try them and think they'll be better, then go for it! :)
