Do you consider yourself a mother for Mother's Day if you're pregnant with your first?

A couple years ago my hubby and I had this debate. I said that yes, I'm a mother. Our son was due two months after Mother's Day. He said you're not a mother until you've delivered the baby/adopted. He said not until you physically had a child with you. I disagree with him!

Not gonna say you aren't, but if I were in the situation I wouldn't consider myself such.
I dunno, I kinda see Mother's Day as celebrating the things mothers do for their kids who are by their side, so more than just carrying them, the extra things that their body doesn't kind of force them to do. But that's just me and how I celebrate it.

Yes you are a mother if you are expecting. Taking care of a baby starts in the womb, not out of it. No smoking, alcohol, extreme stress on the body are just some of the things that mother's do to make sure their baby is healthy.

Personally, I wouldn't consider myself one yet. Reality hits when the baby is born. I don't feel like you are really a mom yet when you're just pregnant, but that's just me

You're a mommy to be. To get with you have to be an expecting mother. People say 'how are you mama' lol you're a mom once you're with child lol the baby just makes it real lol
