BV progression?

Whenever me and mt fiance have sex it throws off my PH. And the smell and uncomfortableness begins all over again. I do the 5 day treatment but as of late I've given up cuz i would be doing it ever week if I didn't. I wash a lot and stay very clean but now I feel like it has progressed. I feel a lot of pain down there by my vagina opening for several days now. My question is, can BV become something serious? I don't want to go to the gyno because of money and its embarrassing its always the same thing. Any advise how to treat this w/o the gyno?
