Are all prenatal appointments necessary?

In my office, you go once a month until 26 weeks, then twice a month until 32 weeks. From then on out it is recommended once a week. Do you think all of those appointments are necessary?

I feel it's necessary, even if the baby is fairly healthy and has no issues...you never know would could happen within a few weeks!

If they weren't necessary, they wouldn't ask you to go. A lot can change in a short time in pregnancy. 
You're not paying separately for each visit, so it's not like they're going to tell you to come in when you don't need to. They're trying to protect you and your baby.

I'm 36 weeks last week at 35 weeks I wasn't dilated but this week I definitely could be.

Think about how many millions of women have given birth without prenatal appointments and we're fine. I'm almost 29 weeks, and haven't had an app since week 21 because my insurance is only in WA and I'm in college with my husband in Idaho, we're moving back to WA next week. Baby moves all the time for me and I'm fit and healthy and my doctor didnt think it was too big a deal

I feel like a lot of my appts have been unnecessary. All they do is measure belly, take my vitals, and ask me if all my information is the same. I'm literally in and out within 10 mins

For me all my appointments are needed my plaitlets keeps dropping then going up my irons dropping even with tablets and my daughters measuring ahead so for me mine are important but maybe not for others

Things like preeclampsia is usually diagnosed/developed late in pregnancy. Just because you've made it to the 3rd trimester healthy doesn't mean things can't happen. Think of how much changes with our babies in just 1 week. So much! When I had my first the week by week changes is what made me realize that our bodies do so much in such a small period. You can opt out I'm sure but really think about it first.

Im 3 months and haven't gone yet i need to asap but everyone keeps telling me i have to wait but i have a ultrasound appointment and then from there im gonna get started

Like others have said, a lot can change in a week during pregnancy, so it's best not to skip appointments unless absolutely necessary. I went from being a normal pregnancy to technically a high risk pregnancy in one week all because my second trimester blood tests showed I have an autoimmune disorder that didn't even show up when I had my blood drawn in the first trimester. I didn't know about it and my baby has been healthy and growing perfectly this entire time. 
So you never know when something risky could show up without warning, that's why appointments are scheduled as frequently as they are.
