Induction/ c section?

So I am scheduled to go in 9pm on Wednesday to starts a cervical ripening, the next day pitocin....I am really worried about this ending in a c section  (FTM).
I am curious, I do have my limits as to what I'm willing to try...if my body just isn't wanting to dilate then I will refuse to force it (like a balloon catheter or something)...at this point I would assume a c section would be the only option...would this be considered an emergency c section or would it be more like a scheduled one, and if so....what are the differences between the two and how things go?

I'm in this boat right now, I've been 5cm for too long and baby is still high, I did the ballon yesterday and didn't help much so I have a few more hours till they call it for a c section!! Staying very positive for natural labor though 😀😬

How far along are you? Are you dilated or effaced at all? Is baby engaged?

With my 2nd, we induced at 38w. It was not a medical emergency, so we decided to try cervical ripeners for about 48 hours without any other interventions (no pitocin or breaking of water). On night 2, she told me that if I did not progress and go into labor, then she was sending me home, because it just wasn't time & forcing it when my cervix wasn't ready could lead to c-section. Luckily for me, on night 2, my water broke on its own. They started the lowest dose of pitocin and I had her 3 hours later.

So you could ask if doc would be willing to hold off on pitocin until you are dilated to 3-4cm. Even if that means an extra day. That would give your cervix more time to get ready.

I'm not 100% sure on the c-section, but I think maybe it depends on how far dilated you are and how well baby is handling it. If baby shows any stress or if you develop any problems, then it's considered emergency. Whereas if you fail to dilate and baby does not engage, then it's possible it could be more of a scheduled c-sect. Def good question to ask your doctor about!

My sister was just induced last Friday. Starting with the gel they insert in the cervix. She had it done once, then again 12 hours later. She barely got to 2cm and it was miserable. Next, she took a pill every 4 hours that was suppose to help dilate. Again, nothing. Then pitocin, starting Sunday. She got to 3cm. Monday morning, the doctor was able to break her water and increased pitocin
 She got an epidural, thinking making all the painful contractions were just too much and she needed to relax. She got to 4-5cm by midnight-1am. She had to be put on oxygen because the baby started sleeping too much. (Heart rate decreasing, not engaging). Then they lowered pitocin.  She measured complete 10 cm at 330 am Tuesday. But baby still not engaged. She rolled to one side, then the other, every 30 min. (Really only twice lol) She had a super strong contraction with a roll and they checked her, baby was crowning! Born at 445am. 10 min of pushing :]

She was very fearful of a c section since her progress was so slow. And they told her, after 24 hours of breaking her water. That they would schedule a c section
 But luckily. It happened differently! brought baby home thursday! 
She was 41 weeks and 5 days and a ftm!

You have the right to refuse whatever you want. Ask them if either you or your baby's lives are in danger and if they say no, then you can tell them you don't want any interventions. As you know, being induced increases your chances of needing an epidural because often times you're forcing your body to do something it simply isn't ready to do. Sometimes it works how it should by just pushing things along a bit, but often times it's too much too fast. C sections are quicker and make Drs more $$$ so unfortunately they tend to opt for it. Just remember it's your body and your baby and you get to make the decisions.
