My son just started to suck his thumb. I just fed him at 230 am and again at 4. he fell asleep after 4 feeding at breast. I put him down and he woke up and is cooing happily and sucking his thumb. If he continues to thumb suck in the future, should I try to replace it with a pacifier?

Yes. It's easier to wean a pacifier than a thumb.

My guy won't take a pacifier but he started suckling his hand. So I think he's gonna be a thumb sucker. Almost 6 weeks old.

Yes, my girl was sucking her 2 fingers and her peds said to introduce pacifier. She's exclusively breastfed but I just introduced it today and no issues thus far. :) and no fingers :)
