newborn baby must haves?

I've got like the main things but I was wondering what is something you wish you had for your newborn? Just can't decide wether I'm all sorted for our new arrival or if I need to buy more things. I was wondering if a play mat is essential? Any ideas anyone?

The playmat is nice once the baby starts grabbing at things. Boppy was my favorite thing ever.

Playmats aren't necessary right away, my son is almost a month and hasn't used his at all. I wish I would have gotten some velcro swaddles, because my son breaks out of regular swaddle blankets. We just ordered a bounceroo because my son hates both of his swings (one swings back and forth, and the other side to side) and his mamaroo. The only thing he likes is his bouncer, but it's not automatic, so I have to sit there and manually bounce it for him to sit in it. My ergo baby carrier with the infant insert is a lifesaver, he loves to be close to me and this is the only way I can get stuff done without constantly soothing him. Waterproof diaper changing pads are a must... I'm constantly replacing them because he will get poop on them when he is squirming. The swaddle blankets I didn't use to swaddle him came in so handy, as burp cloths and to clean up messes and stuff. We had to go out last minute and get rubbing alcohol for his cord. If you're using a paci make sure you get a couple different options, because mine will only take one certain kind. I'm sure there is more, but every baby is different!

Swaddle sleepers have been a life saver for us. Also, for convenience sake we use the Dekor diaper pail ( some people say it is unnecessary but we love it). Keeps the smell contained.

I think a playmat is definitely nice to be able to set baby down for a minute but a blanket could serve the same purpose really! A boppy was a must for me!

I wish i would have gotten a diaper genie sooner. We live on the second floor so going out to the trash to throw diapers is very inconvenient and throwing them in our regular trash just nade the apartment smell musty. Diaper genie helps cut down on how many times we have to throw trash. We take it every other day now instead of 2/3 times a day (bc of smell)
