Gay "Rights"

Okay so i'm in a ranting mood. Someone needs to tell me real quick why it's called "gay rights". I didn't realize someone's sexuality determines whether or not they should have basic human rights. Does their sexuality determine whether or not they should be treated like a human?? I'm confused. Why does someone marrying another person or being with someone of the same sex thousands of miles away affect your life SO much you have to bash them and call them names? If it affects your life THAT much you really need to check your priorities. -Rant over-
