black santa

My husbands coworker was telling everyone at his job that he was mad that Walmart had a black man dressed as Santa Clause and how he wouldn't let his son see him because it would confuse him. His argument was that in America, Santa is traditionally a jolly fat white guy and he didn't want his son to question whether he is real or not because Santa didn't fit the description this year. I thought this was interesting and I will admit I have mixed feelings about it, what do you think? Perfectly fine or confusing to small children?
