is it disrespectful?

A friend of mine hosted Christmas party at her house and she said it's a potluck. So we were 3 families including host. Then I asked her what do you want me to bring she said anything for dessert. Then I made cupcakes and carrot pudding. And the host made main course. She just cooked one dish. It was a surprise to me. I mean it was just weird for me because I already asked if she wanted some help with main course I can come a day ahead or I can even bring some. But she said no only dessert. And even that 1 dish was less in quantity as my daughter was cranky so I was the last to eat and there wasn't anything left really. I felt disrespected. I just need your all ladies opinion. What do you think? Am I overthinking ? When you guys host parties do you care for the food or it doesn't matter?
