Baby and Mucus In The Throat

My nine month old has RSV, and is finally on the downhill side of it. The mucus in her chest is breaking loose, and

Is in her throat. She coughs so hard on it, she almost chokes on it. And when she does cough the mucus up, she swallows it fast, or else I would stick my finger in her mouth and get it out.

I have been given her lots of fluids (like juice and Pedialyte) to thin it out. Her doctor said to cut back on her milk, because dairy thickens up the mucus. I also have her on cold and cough medicine. I have tried sitting her in the bathroom with a hot shower going so the steam could help break it loose.

Is there anything else I can do to break it loose and help her get it loose? Her nose is running a lot, so she is getting some relief, but the mucus in her throat is what worries me. Thanks!
