IUD Help

Hi ladies! I recently found out that my mood stabilizer medication makes my birth control less effective. My psychiatrist failed to tell me that and my gynecologist was nice enough to make me aware. I've been on the pill for ages but because it goes through my liver along with my other meds, it's not as effective. My doctor recommended something that's absorbed into the body vaginally (IUD or something like the Nuvaring.) I want to try an IUD but want to know what everyone else thought about it before I go ahead and do it. So, what was your experience with an IUD?
