ovulation testing

Hi ladies! My hubby and I have been ttc baby #2 for 10 months now. I'm a Labor & Delivery nurse so I spoke with a midwife at work and she suggested I track my ovulation religiously for a couple of cycles..based off of your posts I've seen, it looks like you take an ovulation test multiple times a day and for several days in your cycle? Is that right? Can you help? When do I start taking them and for how long, etc? Thanks in advance!
