should I go for it?

So there's this freshman and I'm a junior and this freshman that looks like he's in college well I was attracted to him the second I saw him. I felt something even before I knew he was a freshman. He is so mature and kind and he recently told me he liked me and wants to go on a date. I don't know what to do because I'll get so much crap for dating a freshman but at the same time he's great. So do I face social suicude or not? It's obviously different in your twenties but o need advice...
