It's called a Mongolian spot and generally goes away by age 5 :) My son has it too. I think it's cute

My son has one as well. It's pretty blue! Our pediatrician said to make sure that all caregivers know it's there so someone doesn't mistakenly think you are spanking/hitting baby and call protective services. I would have NEVER have thought of that, but she says it happens! 😱

Those  are called mongolian spots.  They are common on African American, asian and other ethnic babies. They may disappear with time and as they are exposed to sun light.  Essentially  they are just areas of skin that have extra pigmentation.  They are not birth marks however.  You can tell the difference  because they are usually confined to the back and buttocks.
