14 year old dating?

I'm 14 and a boy at school I like has asked me out on a date. My mom says I'm not allowed to go. He planned for us to go to the aquarium and out to lunch on one Saturday. We would take the bus. It's about a 30 minute bus ride. I would really like to go and I'm upset that I am not allowed. My step sister is the same age as me and she's allowed to hang out with boys all the time. My mom said that's her dad's rule and she follows his rules where as I follow hers. I have no bad intentions with this date. I don't want to have sex or anything like that. I am a good kid. I get straight As every semester and I'm always respectful to my teachers and parents. I do my chores and I even do extra chores and I think I should be allowed to go. I feel as if I'm treated unfairly. Out of all my step siblings and brother, I am the most respectful and responsible. They all talk back and do poorly in school but they get to go out whenever. I tell my parents this and they said they hold me to higher expectations because of all of that. Are they being unreasonable? I think they are. Any guidance or suggestions?

I wouldn't let you go just because it sounds like you two plan on going alone. Even at 16 I had supervised "dates " which were truly just two friends. That lasted until my parents got to know them then we were best friends for like 8 yrs.

I wouldnt want my 14 year old taking a bus with a boy alone without any parents present... maybe you could do something local? Like go for a walk?

That's absolutely unfair. You should all be treated in a similar way when living under the same roof. 
My parents were like this with me when I was your age and I started to rebel hard. It's not a good thing to try to hold you down. 
Try to sit down and have a mature adult conversation with them about how you feel unfairly held to a higher standard to the point that you're missing out on things your siblings are able to experience.

I technically went on my first date at 15. We went to the movies. Get this though, nothing happened! Can everyone believe that!? We watched the movie, and said goodbye as our parents got us. We did that every weekend, and nothing ever happened!

I personally think it's fine. If you're going to a public place, and your parents can drop you off/pick you up. Then it should be absolutely fine.

For those saying go to his house because anything can happen in public, anything can happen at his house too. Just saying.

Maybe you being a good responsible kid is exactly why they don't want you to go? Maybe they think that if you start spending time with boys you will start slacking on your grades.

Whatever their reasoning is, there isn't much you can do about it. You are still considered a child and therefor have to follow your parents rules even if they seem stupid. If you haven't already, I would tell your parents EXACTLY what you wrote here. That you are responsible and don't want to have sex and you feel it is unfair that you can't go. Maybe even just show them this post and have them read what you wrote.

Personally, I wouldn't let my child go on a date at 14. I think it would be fine if you went to his house or he went to your house (with parents there of course), or if you got dropped off at a public place to hang out with him for a few hours. That's as far as I think a 14 year old should go. I know you feel like you're missing out on a lot. I felt the same way at 14, but I promise you, you aren't! Your mother really is just looking out for you. The real fun happens during that weird phase between graduating high school and turning 21. THAT'S when you'll really live it up before settling down, so don't be in too much of a rush to grow up. ♡
