burping one month old...

Are you supposed to wait a certain amount of time after feeding to burp your newborn? My baby girl is one month old and if she falls asleep eating her bottle I don't wake her to burp her, I just let her keep sleeping. But when she eats and stays awake, and I burp her she spits up. And it's a lot, maybe like she threw up? I'm a first time mom so idk if that's normal for her to do that or if I'm burping her too soon after feeding her. I burp her right when she finishes the bottle.
