Zoloft for ppd?

Anyone use this to treat ppd? Was it worth it? Did it work? The side effects are making me think twice about taking it, especially with a needy 2 wk old. I can't fall asleep profoundly with this baby needing me constantly. I also can't be in the restroom (diarrhea warnings too) all day long because I have to be taking care of my little girl! I need help but I'm not sure i can take this medicine this early in her life when she needs me every second.

Some people get some side effects and some don't. They only way to know is to try it.

I took it and it helped a lot. I didn't have the sleepy side effects (it actually made me feel more awake and I slept better even with waking up with the baby because a symptom of my ppd was exhaustion)

I was put on Zoloft after a stillbirth in April, I lost 50 pounds in 2 months and became VERY VERY MANIC. I actually went into a state of legit crazy where I felt like I did a whole bunch of cocaine and just couldn't shut up or calm down. I couldn't cry like literally was unable to cry or feel or care about anything, also couldn't orgasm. It was 150mg

As far as sleepiness, it helps me sleep... but it's not one of those ones that make you a zombie. I get a solid 8 hours on it, and still wake to feed my baby.

I've been on zoloft since about 2 months postpartum. It's done wonders for me. Most of the side effects wear off after 1-2 weeks. It's one of those that takes a bit to work.

If zoloft doesn't work out for you there are other options out there for you. Definitley talk to your doctor about your concerns and they can suggest a different medication.

I'm taking it now for ppd/ppa. I've been in it before and am confident it will help.

I didn't use it for ppd (#1 is still cooking), but for me the tiredness went away after about two weeks when I was on it.  If you can I'd give it a shot for a little while, most of those meds take a while to do anything positive.  Good luck!
