Followers on Glow/Eve

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but what is the point of having followers on this app? Do you get notification when they post something? I'm very confused. I have followers and I'm also following other people, but I don't understand what the point of it is? I follow people because I want to keep up with what they're doing in their life, because possibly in the past they might've posted something interesting, and I wanted to keep up with them, but then I forget I'm even following them. 😳
