I read that you saw a doctor already, I think you need a second opinion or revisit the doctor. I kept getting mucusy colds with barking coughs. The first doctor told me it was a common cold. I saw another doctor after 3 weeks of it not getting better and was told I have chronic bronchitis. Received a stronger medication and was able to shake it. Now however, every time I do get a common cold.. I end up with bronchitis.

It sounds possibly like a sinus infection

That happened to me last winter. I was sick for almost 2 months before I dragged myself to urgent care. I thought I had pneumonia. I didn't but I did get a steroid shot and some antibiotics. It still took a few weeks to clear up.
