It's YOUR wedding. If you want them there, invite them. If you don't want them there, don't invite them. People will be upset no matter what decision you make. My wedding was a shit show because we were on a budget and cut people who we never talk to, which pissed other people off.

No. Not at all. My MIL gave us names of people who "NEEEEED to be invited!"... but most of them are "family" my SO has never even met/hasn't seen since childhood. My mom and his dad/stepmom gave us a few names of people they'd like for us to invite (not that we "need to invite"), and they are helping us a little with the wedding, (especially my mom), so we were okay with those. However, the random ass people who we've never heard of will not be invited. Not inviting them, not sorry about it. It's OUR wedding; nobody else's.

I personally don't feel it's appropriate because inviting someone just for a gift is pretty greedy and I feel like that is a very negative thing. However, she can suggest whatever she wants, the choice is yours though in the end.

I guess it's better to know than not know. There was a lot of people who I invited that brought people who I don't know or wasn't invited. But it was my wedding night so I wasn't going to let it ruin my night.

Tbh I don't really see the problem other than the aggravation of having someone tell you what to do...it might seem low but your aunt has a point...you COULD get a nice gift out of it...i don't know how many people you plan on inviting but there may be so many people that you really only have to say about 5 words to him...plus you're going to be super busy anyways with getting ready and having your after party that you may just not have the "time" to talk to him...either way your day your choice...Congratulations and enjoy your big day and the start of yalls new life together, may it be everything yall ever wanted and then some!!!

It's better than your MIL telling you to invite her best friends to your wedding because she forced herself to getting invited to their kids weddings so we had to return the favor. But she didn't offer to pay for their food (we paid for the wedding all on our ow). 😒

It's not appropriate for ANYONE to TELL you who to invite to your wedding. If you didn't feel they were important to put on the guest list than you don't need to invite them. 
My husbands aunt tried to get us to invite her 17 year old daughter's boyfriend to our wedding. She said it "wasn't fair" that he wasn't invited since they had to travel so far. I told her absolutely not.
