What it's really like dating a sociopath
Hey everyone,
I've been doing some research on sociopaths recently due to the fact that my boyfriend is a diagnosed one. Upon doing this, I've come to find out that they're painted in an extremely negative light. So I just want to break a few myths that I've seen occur very often in articles online about sociopaths.
1. Sociopaths CANT love.
False. Sociopaths have a difficult time processing emotions. They are capable of having them, they just don't process them the same as we do. Love to a sociopath can look and feel completely different than it does with someone who isn't a sociopath. It is more difficult for a sociopath to fall in love but not impossible.
2. They don't know the difference between right and wrong.
False. They DO know the difference between right and wrong. They understand the rules of society and the rules of the relationship. However, if they were to break a rule they would feel no remorse or empathy for the act. They would recognize it was wrong (may not admit it) but they will feel nothing.
3.Sociopaths are capable of killing
False. While sociopaths are incapable of empathy and guilt, this does not by any means make them a psychopath. Yes it is possible to be both but not all of them are both.
There's so many more I could add to this list but if you're really interested I'd recommend doing some research and shedding some light on the subject of sociopaths.
Remember sociopaths are people too.
