What do you consider "an appropriate age" to have sex?

Just wondering since I've seen many of you ladies saying that teenagers should be concentrating on finishing school and not having sex, that included for 16+ years old.

I think when you know what the hell your doing. Not having to ask questions like "I have him a handjob can I get pregnant." Or "he came in me and I'm fertile what's the chance of getting pregnant I'm scared I don't want to be pregnant." And I wouldn't say you need to focus on school necessarily  because you have to focus on school once your in college to. So you shouldn't have sex then either right? I think it's when you're mature enough and educated enough and feel ready then you can consider sex.

I don't think their is a specific age for everyone. Every person in their maturity is different. I personally was 16. I was also very aware of the consequences, knew what I needed to know about being smart and protecting myself. I think if you are too embarrassed to go to the store and buy condoms, then you are probably still too young to have sex.

I don't want to give a specific age. I was 16, with my boyfriend for 1 year, he was my first and I'm now married to him and expecting our first child. I'm not saying that's the right age for everyone though. It depends on the situation I guess.

I think it's when you are mature enough to feel ready if you were to get pregnant. Not necessarily that you're ready for a baby, but that you could handle this consequence.

I was 19. Others might be younger. Others might be older. I'm glad I waited until I did and I ended up with a great guy at the time.

Basically, if you have sex you should be aware of the consequences and be mature enough to handle it if something happens. I'm not going to say that teens should have sex (let's all admit that it's fun after all) but they should know what can happen.
