boyfriends ambitions

My boyfriend is 18 and we are in our first year of college. I'm extremely ambitious with school and work and I like to work hard because I want a great future. My boyfriend is so smart but he just doesn't really wanna go to school..he says he doesn't know if college is for him. I understand that but I'm not sure how I feel about it. He says he is going to keep going to school but he doesn't take it very seriously. He works for postmates and is doing quite well and working all the time. So he's shown a little bit more ambition. I just want the person I'm with to work as equally hard as I do. Will he become more ambitious as he gets older or does ones ambitions stay the same throughout life ?
