IUDS: What is going on with my body?
So I recently got a IUD (Mirena) done and my doctor did not inform me of anything that was going to happen to me or anything. I didn't know what questions to ask because I was laying there in pain of having something shoved up in my sensitive body parts. The nurses weren't very good either. She handed me Tylenol and a ginger ale and left for me to get up and leave. On top of that, my doctor forgot the IUD so she had to pull the plastic thing that opens you up out again. So my IUD procedure expirence was NOT the best one. At all.
So I believe I'm about a week or 2 in with this new thing and I've had typical cramps and some spotting but nothing too serious until recently. About 2 days ago my urine started smelling funky. At first I thought it was because of what I ate but as the days went on it just stayed smelly and foggy. There is no burning sensation but I've had UTIs come where it starts off smelly then starts to hurt. I immediately told my mom and we both believe it's a UTI. I'm prone to getting them. I do clean myself after sex, drink water, take a preventable UTI pill and go to the bathroom and the last time I had sex was on Sunday of this week but still could mean I get a UTI.
I just want to know if this a normal thing with IUDs to get UTI's. And if so, is there anyway to prevent them besides doing everything I'm already doing to prevent them? And is it a one time thing to get a UTI with a new IUD or do UTIs come back? I just want to know what is even happening to my body!
