Too young to think about it?

I'm 18 years old and my husband is 20. We got married when I was 17 and he was 19, in September. He knows I have severe PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome) that can lead to many problems in conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy, and is progressive so it will get more difficult as I get older. I'm working on finishing school and he is in the U.S. Army, but insists we should wait for kids because of our age and our current pay grade. I want to start trying now because I know it will be hard to anyway, and I don't want to take the risks of waiting and not being able to conceive later on. But is he right? Should we wait and risk it, or start trying now?

If he doesn't want to try for a baby right now, then don't do it. He has a choice in this, too. I know it can be hard. I have PCOS so trust me, I know. There are medications that can help you conceive when the time is right and BOTH of you decide to take that step.

I'm 23 and went off the pill for the same reason, had pcos and thought it would take a long time to conceive. Positive pregnancy test 4 months later... when you do start trying don't go into it thinking it probably won't happen for a while so it doesn't matter if I'm not ready now. Wait until your ready! Your body may surprise you- I know mine did. Good luck with everything

Babies are hard work. I couldn't imagine trying for, or having a kid at the place I was when I was 18.

Only you two know what you can handle now, in your current/projected position.  If you really think that your finances, and time can tolerate having a pregnancy, then baby, talk it out.  But remember that he has to feel comfortable, too. There may not be a compromise as this is a big step/choice.

I have pcos so I know how hard it is think that the road to a baby will be super difficult and crazy but it isn't always like that. There are a lot of women who do conceive within 6-12 months with pcos. I think you should respect your husbands wishes and wait a while. You have youth on your side! The real issues with fertility start when time is running out, so age 30 plus for women with pcos. It is not necessarily progressive either, you can do so much to help your fertility with a radical lifestyle change in diet , certain supplements and light exercise.

It doesn't always affect your chance of conceiving, my mum has polystistic ovaries and she's had 3 kids, my friend just found out she has it and months after she got told, she fell pregnant. I wouldn't try for a baby the now if you's aren't ready, I would wait, you could fall pregnant very easily so I'd wait till you's are both ready😊
