how do I ask

So I've been talking to this guy for a little while now knowing he's going to be leaving soon for basic training/buds to be a SEAL, we talk about goals in life and recently I've started gaining feelings for him we finally kissed after what felt like forever! But now it's getting close to the day he leaves and I still don't know what I'm supposed to do when he leaves, does he want me to stick around and be committed to us or not and I don't want to sound rude when I ask but I want to know because we aren't technically dating at this point. Hell he just now asked me to meet his mom and he still hasn't met mine. I just don't want to keep gaining feelings and him not want the same closer to the day he leaves. How would y'all bring up this subject and what would you do?
