When should I stop taking birth control before ttc!

Question

My husband and I have decided that we would love to start ttc in the summer so that we can have a spring baby. We are both super excited, but also very confused about when to stop taking birth control.

We have gotten advice from friends and family and have heard so many different things. Some tell me that I should stop taking birth control a year before ttc, some say 6 months, some day 3 months, some say it doesn't matter. I am a bit overwhelmed and have no idea what to do. I know the best option is to go speak to my gynecologist, but I want to get some advice from all of you wonderful ladies as well!

I know people who stopped birth control and got pregnant on their next cycle I also know people who it took over a year and everything in between. It's not an exact science. I would stop it when you are ready to be pregnant, but be prepared to wait.

Stop now and learn about your cycles. Use condoms until you're ready. Work out, take your vitamins and prepare. Even then, you may not be able to get that spring baby, but that's about all you can control!

I would stop birth control 3 months before and use condoms until you are ready. If you can't reliably use condoms and you aren't ready then stop it once you ARE ready. That's what my husband and I did

There is no right answer. I asked my
Doctor this before I stopped and he told me I could stop and be pregnant within the same month so no need to stop in advance. However, that was almost 8 months ago and I'm still not pregnant. I did start ovulating right away however. I had a friend that stopped and didn't even ovulate for 6 months, then it took her 5 more months before she conceived. So everyone's different.

It took me two and a half years to regulate from my bc pills. I had been on them for 4-5 years when I stopped. I got pregnant right after my cycles became normal (we weren't trying. Just good luck 😁😂) and my dd was born in august. Because we knew we wanted babies close together I haven't gone back on anything and my dd is 6 months. We are in the TWW to see if we are pregnant again 😂😂😂 but I'd rather have them close together than struggle with infertility because I am already so irregular.  As soon as we are done having babies I'll be on the pill again I think!

Took me 3 months after stopping before I went back to my normal cycle and started ovulating everyone's different but I would stop at least 3 months before just to be safe

I've heard some becoming pregnant right after ending birth control. But keep in mind it could take up to 6 months to regulate your period after birth control.

I would stop a year before because a year after I quit birth control, it took me a year to get pregnant but that was me, everyone is different.
