Pumping Schedule?

I will continue to primarily nurse, but want to start pumping a little to freeze some for when I return to work (I'm 3 weeks pp now) and to maybe let someone else feed her once in a while or so grandparents can babysit and be able to give her a bottle of breast milk.

I don't want to start making a ton of milk and get engorged, so do I start with one extra pump session a day? Appreciate any experience/advice. Also does anyone exclusively pump? I was planning to do this, but it seems like a lot of extra work with all the cleaning of the pumping stuff.

Try pumping for 20min after each feed in collect everything that u make n dividing it into milk bags. Than once u feel that u want to produce alil more than pump every 2-3hrs. U can also take two lecithin a day to help prevent u from getting a clogged duct

If you return to work you'll end 1-1.25oz of breastmilk for every hour of separation. You can pump after every feeding or pump the opposite breast while feeding. It is not recommended to pump before 6 weeks due to over supply issues & that can cause plugged ducts, mastitis & so forth. Also make sure your parents or whoever is watching your little one is pacefeeding them. Once at work you can power pump every 2-3 hours when the normal feeding will be! That'll help maintain your supply 😊
