dilation before effacement w/2nd??

My 37 wk appt today found me at 1cm and 50%. OB said that with second child, dilation usually happens first/progresses faster. She offered to strip my membranes at 38 wks if I want, but won't induce until I'm exactly 39w to the day. I cannot sleep, move, handle people, etc. She needs to come out soon. 💕

Anyone else have this experience? Is membrane stripping effective, if dilation continues slowly?

I'm going to start walking my brains off tomorrow. Already ate a half jar of jalapeño slices in the last few days...all it did was give me the runs. My man has been sick, so no nookie. Let's hope this works!

I was checked at 36 wks and I was 1cm and having Braxton Hicks. My dr told me to walk, go to the pool, and get on my hand and knees in the bed and do a pelvic rock/thrust do get the baby to move down more. It will help to start labor.

I have been told that stripping membranes is very effective but pretty painful. Walking helped me go into labor with my son. Swimming is really good if you want low impact because it is easier on your joints and muscles. The yoga ball is awesome as well.

My Dr told me there's a new law that Drs can't induce earlier then 39 wks... Not without prior approval from a high risk Dr or specialist.
Its to stop Drs from delivering babies too early. Like the 'glamor deliveries' where moms are scheduling their own C-sections just because they don't want to push/vaginal. 
They put laws into place to stop people from taking advantage of things and potentially risking the baby.

So stripping the membrane is about all they can do to help you out.
It only helps if your ready to deliver. I had it before and my son was delivered that same day. I had my Dr appt at noon, went home for a nap, and was back at the hospital when my water broke @ 6pm. 
But it doesn't do anything for ladies who aren't ready yet. Be cautious about getting your hopes up.

Hey due date twin! My doc doesn't do cervical checks during our prenatals bc dialation and all that doesn't mean anything. I'll go into labor when I go into labor. stripping the membranes won't necessarily bring on labor so, unfortunately,  you will have to wait until 39 weeks unless the baby decides to come early on its own.
