I want to be like my grandma was to my dad. My grandma loved my dad (her son in law) like he was her son. When my parents would fight if my mom was wrong she'd take my dad's side. My dad loved my grandma so much. He use to clean up around the house when he would come over and just help her out. They had a really great bond. And I definitely want that with my future daughter/son in law.

My dad's mother was awful to my mum for no good reason. She was rude about her family, her religion, sending her kids to private schools (which was a mutual choice between my parents), her parenting, etc. My mother could do nothing right. We no longer speak to that side of my family. My dad told his brother, sister and his parents (his siblings sided with the parents) that they could either apologize to our whole family or they'd never see us again (but my dad on rare occasions does drop by but that's it). It's awful and sad but my mum's MIL was horrible and my dad out my mum and his children first.

My mum's mother is great. My dad loves them and they love him. When this whole mess happened my mums family was very quick to 'adopt' my dad. I want to be like my grandmother. My grandma and mum have always said that when the decision to marry is made then you stop saying anything negative and help support the marriage and you never try to tear it apart. That's the example I want to set my children when I eventually have kids that get married.

I want to be like my moms grandparents were to my dad. They loved him like a son, and made sure my parents were taken care of, even if they had a rocky start to their relationship. 
My dad has never been one to cry over real people, but he definitely cried when my grandfather died. He replaced his own father

I've always wondered what it'd be like to have a mother in law, my whole life. I'd wonder what she was like. 
Unfortunately, my SOs Mom is a dead beat and deserted her family when he was 14. So neither of us would really care if she threw herself off a cliff. 
His step mom is pretty chill, but hes not close to her because his dad didn't re-marry until he was moved out
