Artemis for a girl?

My husband is really pushing for Artemis for one of our twin girls. I just don't like it. He feels really strongly about giving the girls powerful names, and I agree! I'm just not sold on Artemis. What do you all think and what could we name the other girl if we use it?

Total boy name to me. Even Artie isn't a cute nickname for a girl. Maybe try Athena if he's into that. Greek names sound pretty powerful to me.

I'm guessing that part of this is because Artemis is the twin sister to Apollo? I like the thought, but agree most people won't know this.  If he is into mythology what about Cassandra and Helenus - Children of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. Or Callisto, a hunting companion of Artemis. I like the name Artemis, but understand the hesitation.

Im pretty sure Artemis was the name of sailor venus' s cat on sailor moon. 
The cat was a male. 
Im not sold on artemis for a girl. For a boy yes because that what i relate it too. But ultimately its your baby and who really cares what we all think. Thw choice is one between you and your husband. The only advise i can really give is pick a name you won't look back on later and think ugh i really should have named you......

You have to compromise. If you don't love it then you gotta find a middle ground here. I do like Artemis (it IS a girls name btw) and it IS a strong name, but it's not my kid ;p. Hell our girl is gonna be Rowen- which can go boy or girl. Keep at it, you'll figure it out. It took us months....

Artemis is a classy older name. And I think it’s beautiful. Definitely somewhat different from most names now. But by god is it better than Paisley.

I met an Artemis once and she annoyed me haha so I've always had a negative though towards it.

For powerful names I would choose goddesses like Cerce (sear see) and Selene or Rhea and Gaia.
