death penalty?????

what are y'all's feelings on the death penalty? (i am personally against it because i think that it is not moral and no as cost effective and i also think that people suffer more in jail then from almost instant death) i would love to know everyone's opinions tho!!! ( DISCLAIMER: these are my opinions and i don't mean to offend anyone! just trying to hear different points of view)

For it. Serial murderers and rapists don't deserve to live. It's a safer world with them dead. You can escape prison.

I think the prison system should be abolished and a new system should be put in place. Death penalty is hypocritical, paying for prisoners is expensive and also causes a lot of repeat offenders. It's  modern slavery for the rich and private prisons, the system is racist, and it would be better if the US just made programs to rehabilitate ALL ppl.

I'm against it for the sole fact that I believe if one person who is innocent is executed (which happens a LOT more than our system would like to admit) than no one should. Plus it seems like it's disproportionately given. Also it's ironically much more expensive to house and execute a condemned prisoner than someone imprisoned for life. It's complicated though bc there sure are cases that it's hard to say that person shouldn't be executed.

I am against it. While I understand that there are some truly heinous crimes that leave you feeling like the person who committed them doesn't deserve the life they've been given, I still don't think it's right. I think the reasons for it are driven by emotion and the need for revenge, and not by logic.
There are a few main reasons I'm against it:
(1)I don't think it moral or just to say that killing someone is wrong, but it is okay for the state to kill you as punishment for a crime

(2)Our criminal justice system is flawed and full of various biases. The chance of just one innocent person being put on death row and put to death is too great of a chance to take. Being wrongfully convicted and imprisoned is bad enough on its own. If you think that those who are innocent are worth the sacrifice so we can kill the guilty I seriously question your morality.

(3)It costs way more to keep someone on death row than it does to keep them in jail for life.

Against it. We punish crimes by committing a murder? I'll never understand or support that. I believe in sitting in jail until you rot for committing a murder/rape but not killing someone.

Murderers, rapists and pedophiles deserve it 100%. They shouldnt be allowed to breathe the same air as the rest of us. There is no helping people that do those things.

Against it. Killing people because they killed people makes no sense. It's immoral, more expensive, and honestly death is an escape that is much much better than prison. I have never come across a single case where I thought the death penalty was the best choice.

To create life and give death is God's job, I don't think any human has the right to say who dies when.

When people say "the world is better without them" all I can of the people in prison that have to encounter them. Lots of murders happen within prisons and it's more likely for someone who committed murder in the past (vs. someone in prison for weed or a non armed robbery, etc.) to do it again behind bars. I don't really think of the outsiders having to suffer (besides taxes).

But I definitely don't think they should be released early, only in that case would it be a concern for outsiders.
