Mother in laws 😐??

So I have a soon to be mother in law... who isn't the most stable person.. she drives me crazy and is really adding to my anxiousness.. I keep having dreams how she wants to hold my baby boy when he arrives but I really don't want to let her 😐 truthfully this woman sparks tension and anxiety to my core, even just thinking about these situations to come..does anyone have any tips about how one might handle this?? This is our baby boy, and granted it's her first grandchild, but she's..well it's complicating to describe her, I know she'll feel some sort of entitlement and gets upset very essily...reminds me of a child in a 60 year old something body 😒 anyone been in similar situations?? How did you handle it and what was the outcome??

I see no reason to keep the baby from her. Babies are special for the whole family especially grandparents. I couldn't imagine keeping my son from my parents or my husbands parents.

My mil is crazy. She is allowed around my son but is not allowed to be alone with him. The older he gets the more comfortable I am but at 1 month old she got pissed at me because I wouldn't let her hold him. She was so high on pills she couldn't hold her phone up. I just always made excuses for her not having him. My husband understood and he would step in and put his foot down if needed to. But my son is r allowed at my moms without us either. It's not a kid safe place even though my mom tries hard. She is always welcome to keep him at our house though.

I'm going through a similar thing with mine. I've known her for almost 11 years and we had a big falling out 2 years ago after she treated me like shit after major surgery (long story)

Now, all of a sudden, she wants us to be friends because I'm pregnant. She's had 2 years to make peace, but instead, used that time to talk shit about me to the rest of the family. Now I have her daughter sending shitty emails and I am just so done with it all. But, my partner wants us to make up. The only reason I'm still here is because I love him, and we've been a part of each other's lives for 1/3 of our lives now (11 year anniversary on Saturday) but I hate his family. He's not like them. I still get on with his brother's wife, and love our 4 nieces and nephews like they're my own; I even Skype and play online games with them, but it's a shame the adults can't be as mature as the kids 😕
I am absolutely dreading the birth, because I don't want his mother and father there, as I find their attitude to him a usive, but he wants them there. Luckily, my (much more easy going) parents are flying out to stay with us for a few months to help out, so my parents will be in the house, and his parents have to stay in a hotel, which is less stress, but still, this woman angers me so much!

I would say if your SO agrees that she is out of hand. Then keep space between you both. Don't allow your child around her except under certain circumstances and don't let her start with you. Keep a firm hand and make sure he is there to have your back.

If she start trying you then she gots to go. Don't be disrespectful but be firm.

Use the same rules they use for letting young siblings hold the baby- make her sit down, have your husband right next to her. If she tries to laugh you off just make up something - the floors are waxy, or everyone is being held to the same rule because you guys are overprotective.

Mine is very similar. It seems like now everything she does makes me irritated. She loves to say it's "her baby" which bugs the living hell out of me. She's a big drinker and super trashy, but I try to get a long with her for my SO. She informed me that she would be in the delivery room, which is notttttt happening. What's with these crazy MILS?! Ps This isn't even her first grandchild. It'll be her third!
