When do they start checking for cervix dilation?

I'm 34 weeks today and have my 34 week midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon. I'm just wondering when they start checking you for dilation? Is it once you hit full term or do they do it in the weeks before aswell?

My first pregnancy I didnt get checked at all, some do some wait till there patients are going into labor

34 for me but I had been in Labor and delivery with horrible Braxton hicks contractions that just wouldn't stop and got checked there and was already a 3 so she checked every week in case. I stayed at a 3 until I went into labor at 37 weeks.

Mine started the checks at 36 wks

Depends on your doctor. Most on here say they get checks after 36 weeks, but my doctor with my first didn't do any until 39 weeks. My doctor now won't check at all until there is a reason. Unless I'm having contractions, I won't ask for it until I hit 39 or 40 weeks. There's really no reason.

Decline as lon as possible. It is painful and unnecessary.

You don't have to do it. I requested to not have it done until I was measuring small and had to be induced. Decreased risk for infection the fewer times you are checked.
