how long do I let her feed?

How long do you typically feed your newborn each session? 30 min or more? Sometimes she's latched on and actively feeding for almost an hour and it's exhausting! Is this normal for anyone else? I have plenty of milk and I know my letdown is adequate, so I know she's getting enough. It just takes so long. Help me!

My LO took an hour at each feed until she was 3 months old.
When she turned 3 months she reduced the day feeds to 30 mins, now she's almost 5 months she could be finished in 15 mins.
Obviously all babies are different but just so you know.

Is she feeding solidly for that whole hour or sleep feeding? My little one sleep feeds so I just take her off the breast and put her into bed.

And he would eat anywhere from 10-20 minutes each side. I try not to let him go over 20 per side though. 😊

How old is your baby now? When we got home from the hospital that's all I felt I done until about 4 1/2- 5 weeks. I had a good supply of milk. I could pump even after her 1 hour feedings and still get 1-2 ounces. I found if I just stopped fighting him wanting to eat so often that it was easier. I just settled in a comfortable chair with my water, snack and iPad or phone. It gets easier though. He's almost 6 weeks and he's going every 2-3 hours now. I read that newborns can be fed anytime they show signs of hunger. Chewing on hands, bringing hands do mouth, rooting etc. The hospital led me to believe that he would eat every 2 hours and anything in between that would be "snacking" or using me as a pacifier. I quickly realized that babies don't have a schedule. They eat when they want for how long they want. For us, feeding on demand was the easier then trying to do a 2 hour schedule. I fought it at first because I thought it was just my baby wanting to eat all the time, snack and use mommy as a passy. But babies digest quickly and get hungry often. And they are trying to build up milk supply. So it's normal! Just tough on momma for a few weeks!
