Question

I would love advice or experiences on baby wearing! It is not something I am familiar with, as no one in my family has done it.

What is your favorite baby carrier or wrap?

I used the boba wrap the first three months then switched to the ergo 360. I still baby wear at almost 5 months. It's great for when little one is being clingy & you need to get house work done. I also used it to help my son get to sleep. I would just put him in & do chores or just walk around the house. When it's warm outside I go for short walks with him in it. Now that he's older he loves looking around, which is why I switched to the carrier. I love it for grocery shopping! I don't have to worry about a huge car seat or stroller. It also helps me still feel close to him while getting work done at the same time. The only con I would say is it takes some practice to get the wrap on right & the carrier sometimes requires a second pair of hands to buckle properly. I've heard some stops will let you try them out before you buy them so I'd suggest looking into that & see what you like best.

Love my baby k'tan! It is like a wrap, but without all the wrapping. Quick to put on, and i dont get backaches at all from it. I use it around the house and when we go out.

I'm not due until August, but I bought a boba wrap ($40-$50) because I really wanted to see how I felt about putting it on. So here are my thoughts...

The wrap is too long (but it's necessary oven the way you're supposed to wrap it around you so much) when you put it on, must of it is touching the ground. Let's say you're running to Target to get some things, you have to put it on at home before you left because there is SO much fabric. 
It's also got to really hot for baby and mom in hot summer months.

We are opting for a Tula ($104-$140) with an infant insert ($40). Easier to put on by yourself. And it had the infant insert option and SUPER cute designs.

I have a beco Gemini and beco soleil for when my son gets bigger. I love having him close to me on the carriers. I do stuff around the house and grocery shop with him in it. I also love my soft wrap. My husband also enjoys the carriers because people don't touch our son then. My son is nine months old and I still carry him.

Pros: bonding, reflux relief, convenient and helps with naps

Cons: for me this turned into a big one.  My son got to a point of only being able to nap in the carrier (he HATED sleep)

Recommend: lillebaby soft structure, tula or any wrap.  I started with a moby.

I do not recommend walmart ones other than the moby or Boba.  They are cheap and uncomfortable.

I also recommend looking into a baby wearing group near you most times you can try on carriers at a meeting so you know what is more comfortable for you.

How long:  20 months. And I'm still wearing my 5 month old old not often though he doesn't like the wrap much I'm going to be getting a lillebaby essentials

Does anyone have suggestions on which type/ brand is most breathable for hot weather? I also really want to do this, but I don't want to be crazy hot in the summer.

I've been using an ergo baby with infant insert for taking my 3 week old out in town. Keeps her warm and cozy and she always goes right to sleep in it.

I do feel it's a bit too fussy for wearing around the house though.

Definitely going to be wearing my new squish and have been baby wearing consistently still, since having my oldest child 3 years ago.

My sister is an admin for a baby wearing group in her city, so really, she's the one who helps me try new carriers or carries. But over the years I've figured out what I like and my 'baby wearing style'.
I like to use a ring sling or a Mei Tei in the first few months of having a newborn. They mold to your body more and make baby feel like they're in a little pouch. Ring slings are also super easy to nurse in. 
As far as a soft structured carrier (buckle carrier) we currently have Tulas. Which I love! One for my one year old and a toddler size for my 3 year old. The only negative for me with Tula is it requires an infant insert when baby is under 15 #s and I have them. So for this new baby I'm going to get either a Lilebaby or Chimparoo hat requires no insert from birth.

Pros to bw: The biggest ones for me are bonding and just convenience! You're hands free so you can manage other kids or cook or just eat food!

Cons: It can get hot in warm weather?

We still wear our 3 year old when need be -hiking, at busy venue, when he's not feeling well! And he's great about doing it because we've done it since birth.
