flying with baby?

Anyone traveling on a plane with their baby? We are planning a trip from Boston to Ireland in June so he will be 6 months old then. Any tips or suggestions?

I just flew with my 9week old. I just had her suck the pacifier with take off and landing. As previous poster stated, I booked the flight early in the morning as my baby sleeps until 1030/1100. She slept the entire way through both flights.

Feeding on the way up and down does help with the ear pressure changes. Bring lots of extra diapers... I had a couple run out in the middle of a 7 hour flight and had to ask other couples for them! Under the seat in front of you is by NO means a safe place for your child to sleep. Formula or breastmilk can be warmed up by the flight attendants. Prebook a bassinet by reservations if you need it/depending on age of child. If you have a carrier please please PLEASE unbuckle it for take off and landing (referring to wraps, carriers etc)....in the event of an emergency and you pass out/heaven forbis something worse the FAs only have a certain amount of seconds to get everyone out and do not have time to fiddle with buckles/wraps.

I've done it 3 times now and my baby is 2 months old, twice with my partner and the most recent time by myself, I was so worried about her ears or her waking up and screaming but every single time she slept the whole flight(only an hour long though) it seems like there is something about the loud noise of the plane that soothes her. she did have a dummy for take off and landing each time but the last where she spat it out and I didn't have any issues with her ears anyway

We just did two 2.5hr flights last weekend with our then 9 week old. We fed him on the way up and down to help with the pressure and booked the flights for when his nap time would be so he slept the whole way. I think the main thing is to not stress about it (most difficult thing ever) because your baby can sense that and will make them more agitated. Good luck!
